- GETTING STARTED
- --------------

- Even if you have played any previous Black Dawn Games its still worth
- reading this section as HELLBOUND contains so much more than any other
- BlackDawn games before it.
-
- CREATING A BAND OF CHARACTERS
- -----------------------------
-
- To start a new band of characters click on START A NEW GAME from the
- main menu.
- You will then be presented with the character creation screen.
- Select which character you wish to select (Top of screen) then go
- through the process of creating it. You will be asked to select their
- Class, Face and to roll their attributes. When rolling for their
- attributes try to get their prime attribute over 80 as you will
- get extra bonus's in game.

- MOVING AROUND THE GAME AREA
- ---------------------------

- Lets get the basics over and done with. To move around the game area
- you use the six direction arrows below the main window. You can also
- use the arrow keys and DEL and HELP to perform the same functions.

- SELECTING CHARACTERS
- --------------------

- To select a character to use click on any of the characters large
- portraits. The character currently selected will be able to access
- his/her inventory and will collect and greater number of experience
- points than their fellow characters.
-
- THE INVENTORY
- -------------
-
- To access the inventory of the currently selected character press
- the right mouse button.
- This will bring up the inventory.
- You will see 8 boxes to the left (this is the bag) and to the right
- a figure with boxes surronding it. These are your hands, feet, torso
- head and legs. You can carry anything in your hands but only certain
- objects can be put around the other parts of your body (armour on the
- torso, boots on the feet etc).

- From the inventory you can also go to sleep, eat food and see more
- detailed graphs of your current energy and food levels.

- MANIPULATING OBJECTS IN THE GAME AREA
- -------------------------------------

- Using objects in different areas in the game screen will produce
- different effects. The following diagram explains this in more
- detail :-

- | | MIDDLE - Use object (Unlock door etc.)

- WEAPONS
- -------

- You use weapons by putting the into the hands of any character and
- clicking with the left mouse button onto the weapons on the main
- screen

- SHORT RANGE WEAPONS
- -------------------

- Short range weapons include knifes,swords,whips etc. They are
- only effective at close quaters with the baddies but they do not
- need recharging.

- LONG RANGE WEAPONS
- ------------------
-
- Long range weapons include guns,rifles etc. The can be used at any
- range but they have only a limited power supply so need recharging.

- COMMUNICATING WITH THE ALIENS
- -----------------------------

- You can talk to any creature that you are standing next to by
- clicking the TALK button.
- While talking with aliens you can buy and sell items or just get
- the latest gossip from the pits of hell.

- GOING UP...........
- -------------------

- HELLBOUND is the first Black Dawn game to contain multilayered
- levels so keep an eye out for lifts and holes to other levels.

- THE OBJECT OF THE GAME
- ----------------------

- Pretty simple really.... Just kick the devils butt once and for all.
- Keep an eye out for the devils advocates(small dumply dudes in a
- cloak) as the can give you advice on how to overthrow their master.
- (Not the most popular of bosses).

- LOADING AND SAVING
- ------------------

- HELLBOUND is the first Black Dawn game to be able to load and
- save games at any time when playing. So if you think theirs trouble
- ahead SAVE IT FIRST!!!!!

- RIGHT THEN!!!!! If you've noticed that I havent said alot about the
- actual game that's because I'm not going to!
- The fun about this game is the fact that you see new things and
- have to try to suss out what they do.
